Short answer: After ocean freight, a Dubai buyer may still pay document-release, terminal/handling, customs-agent, unloading, storage and local-delivery costs, plus applicable taxes and registration expenses. The amount depends on the port, carrier, shipment and importer. Request a written arrival-cost schedule before the car leaves Korea.

Price the last part of the route

Ask the destination agent to mark each item as included, excluded or not applicable:

Document/delivery-order release: Provider, fee and release condition

Terminal and handling: Actual terminal tariff and quotation scope

Customs clearance: Agent fee and required importer documents

Container unloading/devanning: Method, location and vehicle-handling equipment

Storage and container time: Free-time calculation and daily charges

Local vehicle delivery: Destination, truck type and access restrictions

Inspection/registration: Actual local procedure and exclusions

Not every charge applies to every shipment. Ro-Ro does not create the same empty-container-return obligations as a container import. Do not add a container checklist blindly to a Ro-Ro quote.

Free time is a calendar, not a promise

Maersk describes free time as the agreed period before relevant demurrage/detention charges. The applicable allowance and clock depend on the booking; terminal storage can be a separate line.

Ask when each clock begins, whether days are calendar or working days, how holidays are treated, and when the empty container must be returned. There is no universal “seven free days” to promise every buyer.

Clear the documents before arrival

Confirm the consignee details, importer eligibility, invoice, Korean export evidence, bill-of-lading release method and agent authorization. Send the file for review before arrival and hold sufficient funds for known taxes and charges.

Agree who watches the arrival notice, who requests release and who books pickup. A missing handoff can cost more than a small freight discount.

Ask for a delayed-clearance scenario
